The Magic of Touch

There was a time that the word touch was attributed to a human sense can only get a physiological reaction from another living thing. In this day and age, reaction to the touch can invoke responses from inanimate objects that are made in a way that the fleeting or roughest touch gets results.

The very first touch technology that I first encountered were those ATM machines that had you tap on the pane to get the desired transaction. Then the handy track pad on lap tops that had you working both sides of the brain (both hands did the work), designation the mouse as a default.

The mobile industry has gone from them analogue big-as-bricks cell phone to the Smart Phone like iPhone from Apple. These Smart phones can access the Internet, save you energy from having to click at a key several times for the letter you want and having to deal with stiff thumbs and locked phalanges because of multi-texting or setting a record for speed text or dealing with a lost stylus. The down side though of having the touch technology in a mobile phone is that the life span of the pane is relative to its misuse and heavy-handling. For the screen to be touch-able, there are layers to it that are connected to the computer which are very sensitive. One layer within the screen is called a polymeric layer and is overly reactive to humidity changes and temperature, exposure to extreme humidity changes as the chemical layers expand or moisten. I’ve had one screen conk out on me and it turned to an expanding inkblot- had it in my pocket when a sudden downpour caught me a few feet from home.

One touch technology that is helpful to almost everybody with a laptop is the multi-touch track pad. Seeing a videos on a demo track pad installed in an Asus and the Apple iMac vid-manual got me to thinking of how much time can be saved with less effort used and the promise of non complex file organization. Image selection, resizing and zooming has never been easier. The multi-touch concept for the 2009 iMac edition got rid of the button you click at the end of every touch pad, the glass touch pad is also serves as a button you can click. The same can be said for doing work using multiple windows, the iMac can give you a view of what are open, not in tabs but by minimizing the opened windows. All information and images under the mercy of your fingers- pinching and spinning without having to push buttons.

Another touch technology gadget still in the concept stage is the Optimus Tactus that also uses the sensor dependent display with a twist. The twist is the whole place where the keyboards are is replaced by a mini pane for its video mode.

The touch and sensor technology can reach new heights and it is difficult to discount some challenges application developers are facing just to test the boundaries. Just like everything else technology based the possibilities are endless.

Now can anybody tell me if the rectangular touch screen database pane in CSI Miami is real?

Google Patches Loophole On Its Document-Sharing Application

Google patched a loophole on its Google Doc application when they discovered a privacy glitch that inappropriately shared access to a fraction of word-processing and presentation documents stored in the company’s online Google Docs service.

In a statement Google said:

“We’ve identified and fixed a bug which may have caused you to share some of your documents without your knowledge. This inadvertent sharing was limited to people with whom you, or a collaborator with sharing rights, had previously shared a document,”

G”The issue only occurred if you, or a collaborator with sharing rights, selected multiple documents and presentations from the documents list and changed the sharing permissions. This issue affected documents and presentations, but not spreadsheets.”

The company said that the bug just affected 0.05% of the total documents stored at the site and all of the affected were notified.

SEO Investments seen to grow more than 20% in 2013

Search Engine Optimization Investment is expected to grow at a rapid rate in the coming years as compared to other types of business promotion tools. Reports say, this is primarily because, marketers are becoming more and more aware of its significant contribution for business success.

The report ” Search Marketing Trends: Back to Basics,” highlights the point that this growth will mean a decline for paid search which is 15.9% in 2009 to 11.3% in 2013 while SEO will expand from 17.7% to 20.3%, respectively.

According to David Hallerman, eMarketer senior analyst, every company is losing some business whether they buy less, or not at all–most especially today that the world faces economic turmoil. That is one of the reasons why many businesses tap the power of search engine optimization as a tool for customer acquisition.

In general, internet users are more likely to click on organic listings as compared to ppc ads or pay-per-click ads, Hallerman added. However, it is better to use both strategies–SEO and PPC–to get better results.

Successful implementation of both methods could mean better placement during queries are performed. For instance, using a pay-per-click method of promoting a business can generate results. On the other hand, SEO is a long process. With proper site update and maintenance play an imperative role.

Lastly, Hallerman concluded that “SEO is like public relations. You hope people will notice and buy the product. It’s a lot like tracking buzz.”

Social Networking Sites To Work On Advertising Platform Integration For More Revenues-Reports

Social networking sites are poised to step-up their campaign for greater revenues by establishing an application for advertising. The idea of integrating a more systematized advertising platform to social network is fueled by the fact that social networking sites are booming today–overwhelming numbers of individuals who are into networking are catered by these sites.

Recent reports revealed that Facebook, for example, is taking an evolutionary steps in the field of advertising by working on what they call Facebook Connect and Facebook Ads integration which will make Facebook Connect into a social ad network.

Asked for reactions, Facebook has this statement:

We are always looking at new opportunities for our developers but have not launched anything new. Last month, we did announce that we are working with a few developers to test the placement of .Facebook Ads within their applications specifically on Facebook.com as part of our efforts to help developers monetize. The results of those initial tests will help us determine if and how we could extend Facebook Ads to additional applications and developers in the future.

Prior to this, Facebook created noise in the news arena when it was reported that this social networking site plans to buy Twitter–a micro-blogging site with huge success in social networking which is rumored to go in the mainstream and to compete others.

Some analyze that this thing could possibly happen and this fusion might give an additional strength for Facebook to compete giants sites like Google, Yahoo!, and Msn on advertising.

For us readers, we can do nothing as of now but to anticipate this evolutionary changes that can possibly happen in the near future–competition on advertising hosting.

Time will tell which platform is more effective in advertising–is it through major search engine via search and content? Or through social network?
